DIY Beauty Hacks with Fruit Peels

Every time we eat a fruit we end up throwing away the peels but did you know fruit peels have so many rich nutrients that can actually help our skin to rejuvenate and get that glow we always chase for. Using fruits on the skin is not a new concept. Throughout history men and women used to use natural products like fruits and herbs for cosmetic usages and self beautification. In the world full of chemical products something natural and fresh feels good on the skin and helps clear our skin pores. Even brands today are realizing the importance of fruit skin in beauty products and are creating products like fruit based moisturizer, fruit face mask, fruit shampoo etc. using fruits and its peels. 

There are numerous easy ways to make your own skin care products by using fruit peels. Make sure to save the peels and refrigerate them after you are done eating the fruit. Here are few of them curated for you.

TIP : Before making any pack, dry the fruit peels and make a powder of it. 

Orange Peels

The peel has anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties which make it great for treating acne and oily skin. It also works as a skin lightening agent and can do wonders for marks on the face and pigmentation. Besides its medicinal, more obvious properties, face packs with orange peel can also be used as face cleansers and leave the skin looking refreshed.

Orange Peel Face Wash

This is a great face wash to remove that stubborn tan that just doesn't seem to go away naturally. Use it over a period of time and you will see visible results. 

Steps: 

1. Take 1 tbsp orange peel powder.

2. A pinch of cosmetic turmeric. 

3. 1 tbsp of natural honey.

4. Mix everything well into a fine paste. 

5. Apply on the face and neck, and wash it off after 5-10 minutes with any gentle face cleanser or rose water. For acne prone skin make sure to use an acne face cream after.

Lemon Peels

Lemon contains vitamin C, citric acid, and powerful antioxidants that makes it a premium choice for acne and pimples. Lemons also contain antiseptic properties that help to remove bacteria from your skin. They are also great to remove any pigmentation on the skin. 

Lemon peel face mask 

This mask works great to remove any dark spots, smoothen your skin and hydrate it. 

Steps: 

1. Take 1 tbsp dried lemon peel powder.

2. Add 1 tbsp honey.

3. Mix both the ingredients well until you get a semi-thick paste.

4. Apply the pack on your face and neck and wait for 20 minutes until it dries off. Wash it off with cold water and pat your face dry. Repeat this pack once a week for desired results.

Apple Peels

Apples are rich in Vitamin A, B complex and Vitamin C and minerals. Apples help to build your skin collagen levels. They also possesses anti-ageing properties.

Apple Peel Face Mask

This mask gets rid of fine lines and wrinkles and gives you younger looking skin. It also helps hydrate your skin and works as a natural toner.

Steps:

1. Take 1 tbsp dried apple peel powder.

2. Add 1 tsp honey.

3. Mix both the ingredients well until you get a semi-thick paste.

4. Add some lemon juice to it and again blend all the ingredients together.

5. Apply the pack on your face and neck and wait for 20 minutes until it dries off. Wash it off with cold water and pat your face dry.

Banana peels

Bananas are rich in potassium and moisture, it will hydrate and moisturise dry skin, making it soft and supple. Vitamin A in banana restores moisture, smoothens out the rough texture of the skin and heals dry, parched skin.

Banana Peel Face Scrub

This scrub works wonders for acne prone skin and skin nourishment. 

Steps:

1. Take a banana peel and rub it on the affected area for a few minutes until the inside of the peel turns brown.

2. As it dries your skin will absorb the vitamins and nutrients in the peel.

3. Leave it for 30 min. and wash it off with warm water. You can also leave it overnight. For best results, use it 3 times a day.
