I made a conscious choice

Sustainability is not just a trendy word, anymore.

Fact #1: A recent study by the Ellen McArthur Foundation found that one garbage truck of textiles is wasted every second.

Fact #2: According to statistics, humans buy about 1,000,000 plastic bottles per minute.

Today, each of our choices impact the planet at large, and there is a critical need for us to individually reflect on our consumption choices - right from food to fashion.

When we individually decide to consume better, we can collectively make a difference.

"#IMadeAConsciousChoice" is an initiative to encourage individuals to share the small, everyday choices that they are making in their lives which are conscious, ethical and sustainable.

They say, small steps can lead to big changes. Your individual decision can make that change.

This is our small step and we invite you to join us in this revolution.

WHAT:

Share your conscious consumption choice - it could be as small as refusing a plastic straw or as big as a pledge to not buying any new clothes for a year.

HOW:

1. Download the #IMadeAConsciousChoice artwork from here.

2. Use the artwork and write a conscious choice that you make in your every day life.

3. Click a picture of it and share it on Social Media.

4. Use #IMadeAConsciousChoice.

Conscious Choice Examples:

> Half a million straws are used in the world every day. Switching to a metallic re-usable straw is an easy, conscious choice.

> Every time we order food, it is sent with single use cutlery. Carrying your own re-usable cutlery reduces the amount of waste generated.

> Humans buy about 1,000,000 plastic bottles per minute in total. Carrying your own water bottle can reduce the number of plastic bottles bought.

> It is estimated that 4 trillion plastic bags are used worldwide annually. Only 1% of plastic bags are returned for recycling. All this waste can be eliminated by switching to reusable shopping bags.

> Fast fashion is a magnanimous polluter of the environment. Shopping from a sustainable / ethical / organic / fair trade / upcycled brand helps battle the ill effects of the fast fashion industry.
